Sit-ups are killing my backbone why?


I do about 50-100 crunches when i first rouse up and during commercials at night. My fund feels fine doing them but the subsequent morning it's in pain as if i pulled something. Could it be playing PC games hours a hours of daylight for years =)? Or is it just that my hindmost is weak or something?
P.S i dont hold any diseases so dont assume i do and thats the reason =)
