Whether the man has sickle cell anemia or is merely a carrier, the sperm count is not artificial. Genetically speaking it would be unwise to hold this man produce offspring because his children hold a great chance of developing the disease. This is hurting and really a sad state when children are afflicted. Please protect yourself from pregnancy regardless of what be said to this man in olden times. Unless he can show you results of an actual recent sperm count, don't risk it. To see your child suffer with this is tragic. Have a great week.
